Basic export commodities of India are tea, spices, jute, skin, cottonades, iron-stone, mica, diamonds. The main articles of import are oil and oil products, cars and high-fidelity equipments, coloured metals, chemical commodities, mineral fertilizers, pearls and carbons. Predominance of import above an export is characteristic.

Paying attention is possible on everything, but in such variety at times eyes scatter from a delight and wonder of some commodities. However, fabrics are silk, cotton and wool are quoted in the whole world. From all varieties of silk, a gold-cloth from Varanasi is most famous. Other centers of production of silk are Patna, Murshidabad, Kanchipuram and Surat. Radzhastan's cotton is known on a characteristic picture and bright colouring, while colouring of fabrics from Madrasa is known the effect of "molting" after a washable. It is possible to find fabric - "khimru" - through this country - from mixture of silk and cotton, often decorated a picture. Kashmir supplies with wonderful wool, especially shawls.

Carpets. Merchants from Kashmir will offer to you all-wool, wattled and silk carpets, different fineness of work, where carpets are produced on ancient traditions of production. Every region is specialized on its own, for example, the bright Tibet carpets are for sale, practically only in Darzhilinge. Except it there is an enormous choice of precious and semiprecious stones, jeweller wares from gold and silver, executed in traditional or modern style, classic or eccentric. The main supplier of jeweller wares is the state Radzhastan. And prices comparatively are not expensive.

Clothes. You can purchase clothes on any taste on markets at very inexpensive price, and in majority workshops-shops of it will be sew on an order very quickly. The choice of materials is enormous: silk, cotton, khimru, gold-cloth, shifon, chingnon with the intertwined gold and silver filaments, decorated spangles and semiprecious stone. Variety of wonderful pendzhabi and sari, and different shirts, pantaloons, dresses and clothes of different styles, bright tints and variety attract; you can purchase also a comfortable shoe - easy sandals, shoes, etc.

Wonderful gifts are shawls (yashmaks) of different texture; souvenirs are different figurines from sandal wood from Karnataki, rosewood from Keraly and Madrasa, Indian nut from Kashmir; great choice of objects from a copper, composition-metal, bronze and gun steel with encrustations, an enamel and without them. You will find a great deal here, that can please: spicinesses, Indian tea; perfumes; soap; playing-cards from Orissy; musical instruments.
